Cookie policy.
Last updated June 2026.
This policy explains how judemarketing.co.uk uses cookies and similar browser storage. The honest summary is that we barely use them at all: this site sets no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers and no social media pixels, and we do not currently run analytics software. What little the site does store on your device exists to make your visit feel considered rather than repetitive, and it is all described below.
What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device to remember something about you or your visit, from login state to advertising profiles. Alongside cookies, modern browsers provide local storage, a similar mechanism that lets a site keep small values on your device without sending them anywhere. Both serve the same broad purpose: memory. The difference that matters is what a site chooses to remember, and who that memory is shared with.
Our approach
We designed this site the way we design everything: with restraint. That extends to data. We decided early that the site should work beautifully without surveillance, so there is no advertising technology here, nothing that follows you to other websites, and nothing that builds a profile of you. The values the site stores stay on your device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
The storage we use
The site sets a small number of essential values in your browser’s local storage:
- Newsletter preference. When you subscribe to The Letter, or choose “maybe later”, the site records that choice on your device so the invitation does not reappear on every visit. The value is a simple flag; it contains no personal information.
- Entry sequence. The homepage opens with a short title card. A session flag remembers that you have already seen it, so it does not replay as you move between pages. It clears when you close your browser.
That is the complete list. Neither value identifies you, neither is sent over the network, and the site works perfectly well if you clear them; it will simply treat you as a first-time visitor again.
What we deliberately do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies, from us or anyone else.
- No cross-site tracking of any kind.
- No social media pixels or share-button trackers.
- No session recording, heat-mapping or keystroke capture.
- No analytics cookies at present. If that changes, we will ask for consent first.
Third-party services
Two embedded services on this site are provided by third parties, and like any embedded content, they involve your browser making requests directly to those providers:
- Google Fonts. The site’s supporting typefaces are served by Google Fonts. When your browser requests the font files, Google receives the standard technical information involved in any web request, such as your IP address.
- Google Maps. The maps showing our Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire locations on the homepage are embedded from Google Maps. Google may set its own cookies when the map loads, under its own policies.
These services are governed by Google’s own privacy policy and cookie practices, which we do not control. We have kept such embeds to the minimum the design requires. For how we ourselves handle personal information, see our privacy policy.
Managing and clearing storage
You are always in control of what stays on your device. Every modern browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data:
- Chrome. Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site settings.
- Safari. Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
- Firefox. Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge. Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
Clearing this site’s data has no downside beyond the site forgetting your newsletter choice and replaying its opening sequence. Blocking third-party cookies entirely will not break anything here either; the maps and typefaces will still load.
Do Not Track and consent signals
Because we do not track you, browser signals such as Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are, in effect, already honoured. There is nothing here to opt out of.
If this ever changes
If we introduce analytics or any other technology that requires consent under UK law, we will add a proper consent mechanism before it goes live, update this page, and explain in plain terms what is being measured and why. Any change of that kind will also be reflected in our privacy policy.
A short glossary
- Cookie. A small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Cookies can be useful memory or surveillance, depending entirely on what they contain and who reads them.
- Session cookie. A cookie that is deleted when you close your browser. Used for short-lived state, like keeping you logged in during a visit.
- Persistent cookie. A cookie with an expiry date that survives between visits, from days to years.
- First-party cookie. Set by the site you are visiting, for its own purposes.
- Third-party cookie. Set by a different domain, typically an advertising or analytics network embedded in the page. This is the category that enables cross-site tracking, and the one we avoid entirely.
- Local storage. A browser feature that lets a site keep small values on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage values are not automatically sent to any server with each request. They simply sit on your device until the site reads them or you clear them.
- Session storage. The same idea, but cleared automatically when the tab or browser closes.
Why we chose local storage instead of cookies
The two things this site needs to remember, your newsletter choice and whether you have seen the opening title card, never need to reach a server. Local storage keeps them on your device, where they belong. This is both more private and more honest than a cookie: there is nothing to transmit, nothing to intercept and nothing for anyone else to read.
How long our values persist
The newsletter preference persists until you clear your browser data or subscribe, at which point the invitation stays away for good. The title card flag lives in session storage and clears itself when you close your browser, which is why the opening sequence greets you again on your next visit.
The embedded maps, in practice
The location map on our homepage loads map tiles from a third-party tile service. As with any embedded resource, the tile server receives the technical details of the request, such as your IP address, in order to send the right images back. The map does not identify you to us, and we receive no information about your interaction with it.
How UK law treats this
The UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) require consent for cookies and similar storage, with an exemption for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service the visitor has requested. The two values this site stores fall comfortably within that exemption: one exists solely to honour your stated choice about the newsletter, the other to avoid replaying an animation you have already seen. Neither is used to identify you or to track behaviour, which is why the site does not greet you with a consent banner. If we ever introduce storage that does require consent, the banner will arrive before the storage does.
On mobile devices
Everything above applies equally on phones and tablets. Mobile browsers manage site data in the same way; the controls simply live in slightly different places, usually under the browser’s privacy settings rather than a desktop-style menu.
How to see for yourself
You do not have to take our word for any of this. Every modern browser ships with developer tools that show exactly what a site stores. Open them on this site (View, then Developer Tools in most browsers), choose the Application or Storage tab, and inspect Local Storage and Cookies for judemarketing.co.uk. You will find the two values described above under local storage, and you will find our cookie jar empty apart from anything set by the embedded map while it is on screen. We consider that legibility part of the design.
What the third parties may set
- Google Fonts. Serves font files only. Google states that font requests are not used for profiling and that no cookies are set by the fonts service itself.
- Map tiles. The location map requests image tiles from a tile server as you pan and zoom. Tile services may set operational cookies of their own for load balancing. They receive no information from us about who you are.
We review the third-party services on this site periodically, and we keep the list this short on purpose.
How this compares
A typical agency website carries somewhere between ten and forty cookies: analytics, advertising pixels, session recorders, consent-management platforms to manage the rest, and social embeds each bringing their own. We think that is a strange way for an industry built on trust to behave. This site carries none of it, which means no banner, no dark patterns and nothing to manage. The fastest cookie settings page is the one you never need to open.
Quick answers
- Will the site break if I block all cookies? No. Everything works. The site will simply forget your newsletter preference between visits.
- Do you use Google Analytics? No. We do not currently run any analytics on this site.
- Will you tell me if this changes? Yes. This page and our privacy policy will be updated first, and any storage requiring consent will be preceded by a proper consent mechanism.
